Cobot Integration in Electronics Assembly
Collaborative robot deployment for PCB assembly and testing operations
An electronics manufacturer assembling precision PCBs was struggling with ergonomic injury rates among assembly staff and inconsistent torque application in fastening operations—leading to field returns from loose connections.
Peunier deployed 6 collaborative robots across the PCB assembly line handling component placement, torque-controlled fastening, and functional test connectivity—working alongside existing operators in a human-robot collaboration model.
Task Analysis
Identified 18 repetitive assembly tasks with ergonomic risk or quality variability. Selected 6 tasks for cobot deployment in phase 1.
Safety Assessment
Conducted risk assessment per ISO/TS 15066 for all human-robot work zones. Designed collaborative cell layouts.
Cobot Programming
Programmed Universal Robots UR10e for component placement, fastening, and test jig connection with vision-guided positioning.
Integration & Testing
Integrated cobot torque data with MES for traceability. Conducted 2-week shadow production before full deployment.
